Hampton Court House Wedding Cake - A fun and colourful wedding cake for a summer wedding

Clean, minimal and colourful! Now that is a brief I love for a wedding cake! This was hands down one of my favourite weddings that I did in 2023 because it was such a bright and beautiful wedding in Hampton Court House.

The bride got in touch with me 13 months prior to her wedding to secure her summer wedding. I do get this question often, about how far in advance should i book my wedding cake. If you have already booked your venue and the most important things, I would recommend booking your wedding cake a year in advance, especially if you will be getting married in peak wedding season which is June-August. During the peak months, there are times when I have 5 wedding cakes in a week and some months I have a wedding every weekend.

We started off with exchanging a couple of emails so I could find out more about what she wanted for her wedding cake. She let me know that she would like a cake that is “simple and buttercream with an undone top edge I think that looks beautiful”. Shortly after we arranged a wedding cake consultation to discuss her summer wedding in Hampton Court House and we got the ball rolling! I sent her a wedding cake mood board, outlining different colourful and elegant wedding cake ideas and she loved them!

One important thing for this couple was serving their wedding cake as dessert. They would serve their wedding cake plated and garnished which I think is a fantastic idea!

After confirming her wedding cake we kept the line of communication going making sure we are on the same page about the wedding cake. But I always say to my clients, I am such a low-maintenance vendor, so once I have what I need I have what I need but my inbox is always open for any questions!

Now let’s talk a little bit about Hampton Court House. This is a beautiful West London wedding venue that is gorgeous and grand. There is so much that can be done to this venue but is gorgeous enough to have minimal decor. Hampton Court House can hold up to 150 guests. Hampton Court House is a lovely Georgian mansion built in the 17th century fit for an elegant wedding

Unfortunately, I rarely get to see my couple on their big day as I set up their wedding cake around 60-90 minutes before their wedding breakfast. It was a gorgeous and bright day for a summer wedding! Their venue was decorated with so many lush and bright flowers by their talented florist. I remember setting up such with an awesome playlist one of the bartenders was playing during set up. During the wedding cake set up, I trim and position each fresh flower into the wedding cake to create a beautiful floral arrangement in the cake.

THE WEDDING CAKE FLAVOURS THEY CHOSE WERE:

  • Salted caramel-A moist delicate brown sugar sponge with salted caramel buttercream, topped with homemade salted caramel sauce

  • Vanilla and passion fruit- a soft vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream and passionfruit curd

  • Vegan raspberry and almond (this was a request from the couple)

“Abigail was incredible from the moment I emailed her, to the day of our wedding. She guided us through her many different flavours of cake (so many incredible options, it was hard to pick), has a brilliant process for trialling them, understood our brief perfectly - and really created the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. She liaised with our florist to use beautiful fresh flowers so it was consistent with the rest of the wedding, and it was 100% stress free. I cannot recommend Abigail to enough people.”
