Simple buttercream wedding cake ideas

Having a spring wedding is a fantastic idea. For me, sprint or really early autumn are the best times of year to get married. I love the fact that is it just the start of the season, so you would not get extreme weather conditions. It is often the start of something new so there is an air of optimism in the air. Spring is also the time to have one gorgeous buttercream wedding cake because the ideas and options are endless for your cake! You don't have to be constrained to any particular colour scheme this is the time of year when you can have the most flexibility.

In this post, I will be sharing with you some advice for planning your wedding cake for a spring wedding. I have been creating a wedding cake for a good amount of years! The best cakes that I have seen are where the couple allows the season to influence the design of the wedding cake. Through the use of flavour and the beautiful colours that the season produces. I will be giving you some of the best spring wedding cake flavours!

My 5 points to plan a simple and elegant spring wedding cake

  1. Consider the season: Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, so you may want to choose colours and decorations that reflect this. Pastel colours are a popular choice for spring weddings, but how about pairing the pastel colours with some strong and vibrant colours that spring produces? My favourite flower of all time is Ranunculus they are such beautiful fluffy flowers that I think to work beautifully on simple buttercream wedding cakes. Speak with your florist and they would be able to advise you on how to make sure your wedding cake ties into your vision for your wedding flowers.

  2. Choose a flavour: Spring is a great time to experiment with lighter, fresher flavours. Lemon, raspberry, and elderflower are all popular choices for spring wedding cakes. In the theme of spring, I really recommend that you keep in the theme of having light and fresh flavours. You can also consider incorporating floral flavours like elderflower into your cake. Lemon and elderflower are one of my all-time best-selling flavours for weddings regardless of the season. If your mouth is watering, what not purchase a wedding cake sample box here and try it out!

  3. Decide on the style: There are many different styles of wedding cakes to choose from, so consider what will work best for your wedding theme and personal taste. Buttercream wedding cakes are a popular choice for spring weddings, as they can showcase fresh flowers or other decorations.

  4. Size and shape: Consider the number of guests you'll have at your wedding and choose a cake size and shape accordingly. If you're having a smaller wedding, you may want to consider a smaller, more intimate cake. If you're having a larger wedding, a tiered cake can make a beautiful centrepiece, that all of your guests would be able to admire.

  5. Choose a reputable baker: When it comes to your wedding cake, you want to make sure you're working with a reputable baker who can create the cake of your dreams. Do your research, read reviews and make sure that you have a thorough review of all of their work, feel free to even scroll through their Instagram archives.

My favourite wedding venues to have to work at in the spring are the ones that have a good amount of greenery on their grounds! Their grounds transform into one magical space for a beautiful spring wedding in the UK. Some of my favourites are:

  • Northbrook Park (I am a recommended supplier of this fantastic wedding venue) They have as of their main features one of the feature buildings that is covered in a huge Wisteria plant, it is fantastic for a photo opportunity!

  • Kew Gardens, I had a beautiful wedding at their Cambridge Cottage which is nestled in the heart of Kew Gardens. Kew Gardens is one of my favourite places to visit in London. This is a venue that is a venue for an incredible spring wedding.

  • The Barns at Lodge Farm. This is a wedding venue in Essex located on a gorgeous farm! I have worked out this wedding venue countless times are it is such good in the spring. The staff are extremely helpful and you are exclusive access to the entire wedding venue.

See you on the next one!
