Our wedding cake was an absolute dream

Abigail did such an amazing job. The design was perfect and the flavour was amazing. I would highly recommend her for your wedding cake. She was a joy to work with from start to finish!?

A&A

Hey you!

I am Abigail, a self-confessed cake lady living in London and the founder of Bloom and Crumb, previously called M+H Cake.

I am passionate about creating cakes that not only look beautiful but also taste divine. There was no one else like me in this field and I wanted to start something to fill that gap. Cakes can have character too!

It took one couple to trust me with their wedding cake a couple of years back. I was only 19 and it was then I fell in love with making wedding cakes, I haven't stopped baking ever since!

My approach

At Bloom and Crumb, I take pride in crafting wedding cakes that reflect each couple's unique love story. From consultation to final presentation, I work closely with couples to realize their vision. I pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the cake looks exquisite and tastes unforgettable. I aim to create cherished memories that symbolize love and celebration. I always remind my couples, "We are just talking about cake. It should be fun!" Getting to know them allows me to infuse their personalities into the cake design.

  • Person decorating a tiered white cake at an indoor venue, with blurred background showing event setup and pink flowering trees.

The first thing I ever baked was golden syrup cupcakes with my sister; it was a delightful sugar overload.

My favourite song at a wedding is "Never Too Much" by Luther Vandross; it truly is a timeless choice for celebrating love.

For my wedding, having my mini scrapers on hand is essential, ensuring I'm prepared for any last-minute touch-ups.

  • Person decorating cake with icing in monochrome setting

I love a wedding speech, but I wish more brides did more speeches!

I have been a bridesmaid 11 times, and have dresses in the same colour 😅 So far I have a dress for the following themes: blue, sage, forest green (x2), burgundy and blush.

You will often find me listening to a podcast or catching up on my voice notes, but I can’t respond to them unless I lose count of my eggs…

I don’t have a favourite cake flavour, but if I were to choose, it would be imported from Milk Bar in New York, and it would have to be their cereal milk cake. But I think I am in my pistachio era!

  • Person decorating a large tiered wedding cake with white and yellow flowers.

My favourite part of the wedding process is speaking to my couple for the first time, I love getting to know both of you! I try to make my consultations as fun and chilled as possible, as planning a wedding is stressful enough!

The biggest wedding cake I have done was to feed 500 people, that was a lot of eggs.

My current favourite flavours

  • Fresh lemons and lemon slices on crumpled white fabric

    Lemon and Elderflower

Lemon and Elderflower are the combo I will gravitate too if it is on offer. I think a lemon sponge done right can be so delicious and pillowy. If it was acceptable to have buckets of Elderflower I would!

  • Cupcakes with creamy frosting and dried orange peel garnish on plates, gray background.

    Spiced Carrot

I love spiced carrot cake for its perfect balance of sweetness and warmth, which is enhanced by aromatic spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The moist texture feels both indulgent and wholesome.

  • Artistic still life with halved passion fruit, a crystal glass, dried flowers, and an open book on crumpled paper background.

    Vanilla and passionfruit

This one is one of my favourites and clearly my couple! This unique wedding cake flavour is in almost every one of my weddings this year!
