100 Barrington Wedding Cake- A classic all-white London wedding with a touch of boho
An all-white wedding cake just oozes sophistication and class, and that is something that my couple got so right. This wedding was held at 100 Barrington, which is South London's hidden gem and a cool and modern wedding venue, this was a great match for the style of wedding they were going for. When I arrived at their wedding it felt super trendy but it still felt timeless.
The wedding cake planning journey
You may be thinking, how do I book a wedding cake, let me break down the process for you. The bride first got in contact with me in March for her August wedding, I know that is a little tight but thankfully I had availability as August is always hands down my most popular month.
She wrote me such a lovely email describing the wedding cake she wanted and stated what flavour she wanted, everything about this wedding cake they wanted to do is super simple, with a touch of boho. In her enquiry form, she sent over a Pinterest board for me to have a look at which is always super helpful as this is a quick and easy way for me to get a feel of the wedding they would like to be going for. On their Pinterest board, there were a lot of white and dried flowers.
Next, we hopped on a wedding cake consultation call which was a great way for us to first meet each other and for them to get to know me as their wedding cake maker. I think it is super important for you to feel comfortable with all of your wedding suppliers as they’ll be working together to build your dream wedding day! In the wedding cake consultation, we spoke about the flavours they would like, the design of the wedding cake and any concerns they may have about their wedding. One thing concern that they had was having a semi-naked wedding cake in the heat. A semi-naked wedding cake was something I encouraged them not to do as it would be an unstable cake in the heat. The 100 Barrington is a fantastic wedding venue but there is no air-con throughout the wedding venue, which is not fantastic for the cake. The best wedding cakes for a summer wedding are cakes that are fully covered as the buttercream does offer support for the cake to hold up in the heat, it also acts as a barrier so the cake will be cooler for longer.
After our consultation, I sent over a mood board for my couple to visualise their wedding cake and to see different options of what their wedding cake would look like. But what is a wedding cake consultation without tasting any cake? The couple ordered a wedding cake sample box, to try different flavour options but as their wedding was classic, we went with a classic Victoria sponge, which they loved!
From there we confirmed their booking, invoices were paid and final details about the day of the wedding were ironed out.

Weddings at 100 Barrington as so relaxed, my wedding cake setups are so smooth and I love it. The wedding was on a very hot August wedding day so I was thankful the wedding cake was covered in white chocolate ganache as that is a way more weather-stable cake covering for warmer months.
The couple went for 3 tiers for Victoria Sponge with a smooth vanilla buttercream and raspberry compote, if only I could have a slice of that now!
